On
the 31st of May, the music conservatory
in Vigo (Spain) gave a homage to David.
This
emotional ceremony was presided by the director
of the conservatory, the cultural councillor
of Vigo and other local authorities, as
well as the guitar teachers and other teaching
staff from the conservatory.
During
this celebration, the painter Doroteo Arnáiz
presented a portrait of David, which he
had painted during a guitar festival a few
years ago.
This
was followed by several moving speeches,
which added to the excitement of the moment.
The last
surprise of this ceremony consisted on David
opening a curtain and finding out that they
named the auditorium after David. The beautiful
bronze plaque at the entrance of the hall
now reads:
AUDITORIO DAVID
RUSSELL
